What does joyful courage mean to you?

Full expression. I also think of the words pleasure and audacity when I think of joyful courage. It’s not about not being afraid, it’s stepping into the arena even though we are afraid. So to me joyful courage means stepping into the arena, whatever that means to you, in the fullest expression of yourself and doing so in a way that also focuses on joy and pleasure.

See you next week!! :)

PARENTING FOR THE SEASON YOU’RE IN

I took the feedback of all the parents who went through in March and have added a week and tweaked the content a bit to make it an EVER MORE transformational learning experience!!

ENROLLMENT IS OPEN AND SPACE IS LIMITED.

Parenting for the Season You're in (or “the seasons course” as I like to call it) is a five week class for parents of middle and high school aged kids. It is a space for learning the PD tools that support connection and firmness, as well as a gentle look at the ways we may be getting in the way of our adolescents' growth and development.

We will connect around the collective experience of raising teens, learn about teen brain development, consider our parenting style, embody connected firmness, and learn encouragement tools that will sustain us in the years ahead.

After going through the program in March, one parent shared:

I have been struggling with consequences for my teens - what should they be and why aren't they working! We have been locked in a power struggle with my younger teen and I found myself trying to force him to do what I want - control instead of collaboration. This program helped me pivot away from consequences and reframe situations with a view on solutions, and really thinking harder about what part of the work or choice is really mine and which is his..

And another parent offered

I loved how it consistently (the course) helped me to see another way and learn how to be and remember to be in relationship with my teen and not simply trying to fix or control the challenging behaviors.

This is deep learning, my friends, check it out at www.joyfulcourage.com/seasons to get more info and claim your spot!

Today’s show should have been a solo show BUT I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of a book launch event last week, and was interviewed by Mindy Duff - one of the authors of the new book, Motherhood diaries. We had such a good time during the interview that I asked Mindy if she would share it with me so that I could turn it into a podcast!

Mindy Duff is a certified holistic health and nutrition coach, speaker and published author. Her mission is to help individuals uncover their best selves through the power of nutrition, self care and self love.

Takeaways from the show:

  • Evolution is endless
  • The gifts of hard situations
  • Practicing not taking it personal
  • Navigating the teen world
  • Holding space for self-expression
  • How we are holding learning and public education
  • What self care looks like
  • Your kids are NOT a projection of you

Hey friends!

You all know that I am DOWN with therapy. I am a strong believer that the parenting journey brings up ALL THE THINGS that we are carrying around from our childhood, all the beliefs about our worthiness and enoughness - and it can really get in the way of creating deep, authentic, HEALTHY relationships with the people we love the most, in the HERE and NOW.

This is why I am so proud to be partnered with Better Help. Because WANTING a therapist and FINDING the right one for you can be super challenging.

Timing, travel, cost - all of it can get in the way of getting to the soul healing work that therapy can be…

But Better Help is a solution. Better Help is online counseling - a service that provides support via your computer or smartphone - you can choose to connect through conference calls, phone calls or even text messages.

It might seem weird to think about NOT stepping into an office and meeting with your therapist face to face, but I am here to say FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE that it is just as powerful to work with someone via the computer or phone. Shout out to my therapist, Mark, who helped me through my darkest parenting days AND a major family health crisis…

I am confident you can find someone to support you, too.

And the Joyful Courage community gets 10% off their first month!
